Thin layer models of the crust and lithosphere

Abstract: Thin layer models of the crust and lithosphere and its small structure elements are investigated. The known asymptotical expansion method is used to work out geodynamical models of thin layers at arbitrary configuration and any boundary conditions. In particular the sloping overlaps in the consolidated platforms and shields (as an example – the Kapuskasing overlap in Canada) are considered. They have form of a wedge or thin plate. The scientific importance of these overlaps is related with the problems of superdeep drilling and bed and oil field genesis. In these problems some principle ideas have a great importance. These ideas should be grounded on the geodynamical models, in particular on the thin layer models of the crust and lithosphere. The analytical and semianalytical thin layer models give possibility to obtain the results simpler and faster than the analogous numerical models.
