System “ATRAD” for calculations of atmospheric radiation: reconstruction of absorption and scattering cross-sections

Abstract: This paper is one of a series of reports describing the Database and Computer Code System ATRAD (Atmospheric Radiation) designed for high precision calculations of Earth (planet) atmospheric radiation for climate studies. The statement of the problem of atmosphere radiation transport calculations is outlined. Input data for System ATRAD, the methods of data representation and data processing .are described. Paper also discusses some problems arising in reconstruction of the energy dependence cross-sections from HITRAN molecular absorption parameters database. Time saving and precision methods of the reconstruction of radiation cross-sections for atmospheric gases, aerosols and cloud particles are proposed.
