Abstract:
This paper presents the results of numerical simulation of geological processes distinguished by their proceeding velocities into ten orders. One study case is the gold placer dynamics in a river valley. Another is a fast-moving ice-debris mudflow. In both study cases, the transported material is considered as an independent flow of solid particles free of host rocks. In order to make a mathematical presentation of such a flow, a set of viscous compressed liquid equations is used. Numerical experiments results demonstrate their sufficient similarity with on-site data obtained for a natural placer deposit and an ice-debris mudflow.
