Abstract: An incompressible viscous flow in a channel with an obstacle of square section on it's wall is studied numerically in this work on the basis of the Navier–Stokes equations. The range of the Reynolds number on investigated flows is from 1 to 600. There was evaluated the critical Reynolds number ($\mathrm{Re}=405$) that characterize the transition from the steady state flow regime to the oscillating one with quasi-periodic vortex shedding.
