Abstract:
Problems on intensive interaction of a space dust cloud moving toward a planet at high velocity with the planet atmosphere are considered. The space dust cloud may have different size and shape resulting in different problem formulations on interaction of local (cloud size is small comparing with planet diameter) and global character. We consider ID plane and 2D axially symmetric formulations of the problem. To solve the problem a modification of the Godunov finite-volume scheme was developed. In 2D case we use an unstructured grid. Some results are discussed. Arising gas dynamical flows are characterized by different effects. Under some conditions a catastrophic impact on the planet surface is possible. In case of global interaction the atmosphere may be taken away by the dust cloud.
