On the linear and differential cryptanalysis of the AES-like ciphers

Abstract: In the context of AES-like ciphers we give an outline of specific approach to linear and differential cryptanalysis. We obtain new results permitting to improve estimates of important linear and differential characteristics of AES-like ciphers. Some examples illustrates drawbacks in conventional proofs of security.
