On Automorphisms of a Generalized Octagon of Order $(2,4)$

Abstract: Possible orders and fixed-point subgraphs of automorphisms of a generalized octagon of order $(2,4)$ are found. The vertex-symmetric generalized octagon of order $(2,4)$ is proved to be classical.
