Abstract:
The paper presented the process of chemical modification of the surface of Kuchak pumice deposit. Grains with sizes from 2,5 to 5 were selected for the modification. Sodium methyl silliconate has been used as a modifier. The surface modification results were confirmed by the IR spectrophotometric method. Due to the modification, the sorbent surface becomes hydrophobic. Water sorption decreases by $60…65~\%$ and oil sorption increases by $25…30~\%$.
Keywords:pumice, surface modifier, water sorption, oil sorption, sodium methylsililiconate.
