Abstract:
The article considers the decor and its compositional significance in the works of Rafayel Israelyan according to chronological phases. The first stage is the ornamental detailing of the wine cellars of the Ararat Trust, which formed the base of architect’s work. The next reference was made to the Sardarapat memorial complex, which has a historical significance in the liberation struggle of Armenia, so is reflected in the decorative expressions of the memorial. And finally, the third is the Victory Memorial, which also has historical significance as it is dedicated to the memory of the victims of the Great Patriotic War (World War II). However, this monument differs from its monumental composition and a new approach to decorative art. Thus, it has been touched upon the stylistic features of R. Israelyan.
