Abstract: Water intake galleries are special catchment structures that supply water to settlements and other objects of vital importance. Special technical operating conditions are needed for proper functioning of these facilities for which it is required to perform risk-involving and dangerous cleaning and maintenance works. This explains the fact that most of the existing catchments came out of action due to improper maintenance and cleaning works. In order to ensure the technical conditions for these structures’ operation engineering solutions are suggested, the implementation of which will sustain the guaranteed amount of water supply meeting the demand of the given settlement.

Keywords: water spring, water intake gallery, operation, reconstruction, modernization.
