Abstract: Analysis of a shock wave distribution in a downstream as a result of the ground dams’ soil washout has not only practical but also theoretical significance. This is particularly relevant for the recognition of boundaries of inundated downstream area and the evaluation of the shock wave impact on existing structures. The types of shock wave passing over existing fluid surface are described together with waves emerging in dry channels as a result of the former. Regularities of the silt distribution along the shock wave have been obtained enabling the assessment of their influence on structures.

Keywords: shock wave, equation of movement, silt, distribution.
