Abstract: We study parameters of cylindrical microresonators based on optical fiber with a partially removed silica cladding by etching with hydrofluoric acid. It was found that a higher degree of silica cladding removal results in a decrease in the quality factor of the microresonator, attributed to the increase in surface roughness.

Keywords: cylindrical microresonator, whispering gallery modes, Q-factor, silica cladding, chemical etching.
