Abstract: The optical transmission of single-crystal paratellurite grown from raw materials of different purity procured from different manufacturers was examined in a wide spectral range. the studies were carried out for three crystallographic directions corresponding to crystallographic planes (001), (100), and (110). reflectance spectra were obtained, and the influence of surface treatment on spectral features was analyzed. a slight difference in transmittance spectra was noted for raw materials differing in impurity content by 3 orders of magnitude. the feasibility of application of devices based on paratellurite in the UV and terahertz ranges was discussed.

Keywords: paratellurite, acousto-optics, reflectance spectrum, transmittance spectrum.
