Abstract: In this paper we theoretically studied the features of the optical properties of cholesteric liquid crystals (CLC) in an external static magnetic field, taking into account the magneto-optical activity. The boundary value problems of reflection from a half-space of a planar CLC and the transmission of light through a finite layer of a magnetoactive CLC at normal incidence of light is considered. The features of the evolution of reflection spectra from a half-space with a change in the parameter of magneto-optical activity are investigated. The existence of the effect of magnetically induced transparency (MIT) in CLCs with real (non-exotic) parameters is shown. The features of the MIT resonance lines at different values of the local optical anisotropy of the CLC are discussed.

Keywords: cholesteric liquid crystals, Weyl semimetals, giant magneto-optical parameter, diffraction, eigen polarizations, magnetically induced transparency, optical anisotropy.
