Abstract: The possibility of detecting blood vessels located in the tissues of the brain, based on images of the visible and near infrared ranges, has been investigated. The preliminary results obtained in the course of the experiment confirm the prospects of using plane-polarized incoherent radiation with a central wavelength in the range from 730 to 900 nm in the course of further research in order to create a system for automatic detection of blood vessels and cranial nerves from endoscopic images.

Keywords: automatic detection, optical inhomogeneities, brain tissue.
