Comparative analysis of the graphic information transformation quality using block ciphers

Abstract: The paper presents the results of practical experiments on encryption algorithms (DES, AES, Magma) in the Electronic Code Book (ECB) mode. The influence of encryption on the quality of graphic information conversion depending on its properties is shown. During the experiment, the hypothesis was tested. According to our hypothesis, the quality of encryption depends not only on the encryption algorithm and its mode, but also on the properties of the information being converted itself. It was experimentally demonstrated that the quality of information conversion is influenced by such parameters as: the number of colors in the color palette, the number of large and small objects in the picture, the number of pixels, the presence or absence of a background, and others.
