Abstract: The paper analyzes the history of the formation and development of the famous algebraic school at Gomel State University. The role of Academician of the Academy of Sciences of the BSSR S.A. Chunikhin and his student, Corresponding Member of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, L.A. Shemetkov as scientific leaders in the formation and development of the scientific school is shown.
