Abstract: According to developed methods, in the fields of the mutual solubility of initial binary compounds (InP, InSb, and CdS), solid solutions of the InP–CdS and InSb–CdS systems certified as substitutional solid solutions with a cubic sphalerite structure are obtained. Their bulk (crystal-chemical, structural) and surface (the chemical composition of surfaces, acid-base) properties are studied with a set of methods. The relative effect of the initial binary compounds in various manifestations is shown for them. Information about multicomponent diamond-like semiconductors is supplemented. Regularities and correlations for changes in the studied properties of the solid solutions are established. Practical recommendations are given on the use of the obtained materials for the production of sensors based on ammonia microimpurities as well as on applying the established correlations for the cheaper search for new materials.

Keywords: multicomponent diamond-like semiconductors, solid solutions, crystal chemical, structural, surface properties, patterns, correlations, proposed new materials, sensors, detectors.
