Abstract: It is established that the transverse emf developed in an anisotropic thermoelement (temperature sensor) under conditions of a pulsed thermal load in the absence of an external electric circuit is proportional to a temperature difference between the front (exposed) and rear surfaces of the sensor. This result has been obtained assuming that the temperature distribution in the sensor is one-dimensional and the components of the thermo emf and electric conductivity tensors are independent of the temperature. The time of sensor heating, during which the temperature of the unexposed surface remains constant, is evaluated.
