Abstract:
Alloys (Sm$_{1-x}R_{x}$)$_{2}$Fe$_{17}$ ($R$ = Ho, Er; $x$ = 0.1, 0.2, 0.4) were obtained by induction melting in inert atmosphere. Structure and magnetic hysteresis properties of the initial compounds and their hydrides were investigated. It was found that (Sm$_{1-x}R_{x}$)$_{2}$Fe$_{17}$Hy hydrides preserved the rhombohedral Th$_2$Zn$_{17}$-type structure (space group $R\bar3m$) like initial compounds. Hydrogenation leads to a significant increase in the Curie temperature and saturation magnetization at room temperature. Compositions with potentially high magnetic characteristics have been determined.
