Abstract: We propose a method of obtaining two-component composite cathodes for lithium ion batteries with active layer based on lithium iron phosphate and redox-active conducting polymeric complexes of nickel with salen-type Schiff bases. The structure and electrochemical characteristics of obtained electrodes have been studied. It is established that metallopolymers in the proposed cathodes (free of traditional binding and conducting additives in the electrode layer) not only successfully perform the functions of binding and conducting components, but also provide reversible charge storage, which can favor an increase in the specific capacitance of cathode layer as compared to that in electrodes of traditional composition.

Keywords: conductive polymeric metal complex, salen-type ligand, lithium-ion battery, composite cathode.
