Abstract:
The behavior of a cylindrical body with a nonaxisymmetric cross section in a horizontally positioned cylindrical cuvette filled with viscous incompressible fluid and performing rotational oscillations is experimentally studied. The effect of vibrational suspension of a heavy nonaxisymmetric cylinder near the bottom of a vibrating cavity at a distance comparable with the thickness of the Stokes viscous layer is revealed and studied. The character of the oscillatory dynamics of the body and its interaction with the cavity boundary are investigated using the high-speed video registration of the process.
