Abstract: Optical properties of biological coenzyme FAD in an aqueous solution have been studied. Two fluorescence lifetimes, a rotational diffusion time, and an anisotropy parameter have been determined from experiments by recording the decay of polarized fluorescence excited by picosecond laser pulses. The results obtained are discussed and compared with the results of other authors.

Keywords: flavinadenindinucleotide, FAD, polarized fluorescence, decay time, rotational diffusion time, anisotropy.
