Abstract:
In this paper, we present the methodology and results of an experimental study on the effect of the surface tension coefficient and the initial volume of a water core on the dynamics of its destruction upon free fall in air with a nonzero initial velocity. At a twofold decrease in the liquid surface tension coefficient, the distance at which the complete destruction of the water core with the formation of a cloud of drops occurs is shown to decrease by 30% while the dependence of the distance of complete destruction on the initial core volume has a minimum.
Keywords:macrovolume of liquid, free settling, distance of complete destruction, coefficient of surface tension, initial volume.
