Abstract: The results of the study of the spark plasma sintering of SmS-based ceramics have been presented. The dependence of the microstructure and phase composition of ceramics on the temperature of spark plasma sintering was studied by using SEM, EDX and XRD. It is shown that, at a sintering temperature of 1200$ ^{\circ}$C, dense, non-porous ceramics are formed and the phase composition of the sintered ceramics is close to that of the initial powder.

Keywords: samarium monosulfide, ceramics, target, sintering, spark plasma sintering.
