Plane wave diffraction on a layer of asymmetric hyperbolic metamaterial

Abstract: We consider the diffraction of a plane wave on a layer of symmetric hyperbolic metamaterial made of metal and SiO$_2$ layers. It is shown that the reflection coefficient depends not only on the angle of incidence, but also on the direction of incidence relative to the anisotropy axis. In an arbitrary fall, a plate of an asymmetric hyperbolic metamaterial creates scattered waves of both polarizations.
