Abstract:
Strong thermal lenses limit the achievable output power of lasers of Cr$^{2+}$:CdSe active medium, which has unfavorable thermophysical properties: low thermal conductivity and a high value of the thermo-optical coefficient, with a level of $\sim$2 W. The transition from the classical scheme for constructing a laser source to a scheme with a moving active medium made it possible to achieve more than 20 W of continuous generation in a Cr$^{2+}$:CdSe crystal.
