Abstract: The spreading of liquid nitrogen film over the surface of single structured packing elements has been experimentally studied. Comparative analysis of experimental data showed the influence of a horizontal microtexture, perforation, and inclination angle of large corrugation ribs on the character of liquid film spreading over the corrugated surface at various values of the film-flow Reynolds number. Experimental data are also presented on the dependence of the relative fraction of liquid retained in a single irrigated channel in corrugated plates of various thicknesses on the extent of irrigation.
