Abstract:
A mixed alloy of TiO$_2$ and SiO$_2$ has been obtained using a 3-kW solar furnace. Films of the TiO$_2$–SiO$_2$ alloy applied onto a surface of glass and silicon plates exhibit high strength and adhesion, are transparent in the spectral range of sensitivity of solar cells, and can be used as effective antireflection coatings. It is established that adding TiO$_2$ to SiO$_2$ improves the optical properties of oxide coatings.
