Abstract: The effect of a considerable reduction in the drag of the reentry vehicle of a Soyuz-type missile with a small-sized disk placed in front of it is grounded on the solution by a factorized finite-volume approach of the Navier–Stokes and Reynolds equations, closed in the latter case by a modified Menter shear-stress transport model considering the curvature of the streamlines.
