Abstract: It is shown that the simultaneous active and passive control over jet flows (by the introduction of external oscillations in the initial flow velocity and swirling) ensures effective increase in the intensity of turbulent combustion in a gas-phase flame and the suppression of vortex core precession. The jet flow structure has been studied by a non-intrusive optical technique (particle image velocimetry). The averaged structure of the region of intense turbulent combustion has been analyzed with the aid of a highly sensitive digital camera equipped with an optical filter for monitoring the intensity of chemoluminescence of CH* radical species.
