Abstract: The overdetermined system of partial differential equations describing the two-dimensional isothermal motion of a polytropic gas is studied. The system is reduced to passive form and fully integrated. The resulting solutions are treated as ideal incompressible fluid flow bounded by a free surface or a moving solid wall.

Keywords: isothermal gas flow, thermal motion of gas, free-boundary ideal flow, overdetermined systems, exact solutions.
