Abstract: A model of a medium consisting of parallel layers of elastic rectangular blocks separated by deformable viscoelastic interlayers is considered. The model is proposed for describing the low-frequency part of the spectrum in waves propagating in media with such a structure. For a two-dimensional assembly consisting of 36 blocks, the results of numerical calculations are compared with experimental data.

Keywords: block media, contact of blocks and interlayers, unsteady waves, low-frequency part of the spectrum, viscosity, damping.
