Alternative Choice of Structure in One Elementary Communications Network

Optimization of a centralized communications network (a combination of radial and linear structures) is considered. Minimization of the average number of peripheral points cut off from the center is the optimality criterion. It is shown that there is no combination network in the class of structures optimal by this criterion: only a linear or a radial structure can be optimal.
