Influence of anisotropy of an intracavity plate on the polarization of $CO_2$ laser radiation

A study was made of the polarization of emission from a $CO_2$ laser containing an intracavity crystalline plate. A change in the degree of polarization was explained as due to the influence of anisotropy induced in the plate by the laser radiation.
