Abstract:
An analysis is made of the influence of the material and waveguide dispersion on the pulse characteristic of a single-mode waveguide at wavelengths in the region of $1,55\mu m$. It is shown that a suitable selection of the difference between the refractive indices of the core and cladding, and of the size of the core can ensure that the dispersion of the pulse characteristic is less than 0.02 ps/(nm${}^2\cdot$km).
