Abstract:
A technique is developed to calculate the small-signal gain in a CW $D-O_3-CO_2$ laser allowing for heat release in the active mixture, a finite reagent mixing rate, and a boundary layer at the nozzle walls. The experimentally determined characteristic scale of mixing of the streams is utilized. Satisfactory agreement is obtained between calculations and experiment. Calculated gasdynamic flow parameters at the exit from the injector show that by using a supersonic diffuser, the reaction products can be released directly to the atmosphere.
