Abstract:
The utilization of a CS2–CS–O2–O mixture in chemical gasdynamic lasers is shown to be highly efficient, giving appreciable gains and inversions due to vibrational–rotational transitions in CO molecules. It is postulated that increasing the CS and O content in the mixture, choosing an optimal injection point, and using large nozzle expansion angles can yield a gain of ~0.1 cm–1 and total inversions greater than 1014 cm–3.
