Abstract:
An investigation was made of the absorption of ultraviolet radiation in gaseous uranium hexafluonde as a result of the action of high-power radiation on the combination vibration v2+v3 of the UF6 molecule. A considerable increase in the absorption coefficient was observed in the 250–550 nm range. The contrast of the induced absorption exceeded 0.5×102 at the wavelengths of 340 and 420–550 nm. The vibrational–translational and vibrational–vibrational exchange constants were respectively, 26 and 1 μsec·Torr.
