Abstract:
The approximation of a thin random screen is used to study the mutual correlation of the field and intensity fluctuations of two monochromatic waves propagating along paths of different length after passage through a thin layer of a randomly inhomogeneous medium (turbulent atmosphere containing an aerosol). Particular attention is paid to the case of “strong” intensity fluctuations. It is noted that, in this case, there is a region where the influence of the randomly inhomogeneous medium cannot be described using the approximation of normal field fluctuations.
