Abstract:
Homogeneous single crystals of mercury thiogallate $HgGa_2S_4$ were grown. Their diameter and length were 12 mm and 40 mm, respectively; the absorption coefficient was of the order of 0.1 cm${}^{-1}$. The nonlinear susceptibility coefficients $d_{36}(HgGa_2S_4)=1,8d_{36}(AgGaS_2)$ and $d_{31}(HgGa_2S_4)=0,6d_{36}(AgGaS_2)$ were determined.
