Abstract:
A calculation is made of the precision of the wavefront-reversing solution for transient stimulated Brillouin backscattering in the field of a coded pump wave. It is shown that serpentine fine-structure distortions are halved under conditions far from steady state, compared with the steady-state distortions, and the increment for the reversing wave is $\surd\overline{2}$ times greater than the increment for uncorrelated waves.
