Search for parity nonconservation in atomic transitions

A description is given of the aparatus for measuring the optical activity of Bi vapor at wavelengths corresponding to the 6p ³⁴S_3/2–6p ³²D_5/2 M 1-type transition and preliminary experimental results are reported.
