Drawing of glass-fiber waveguides using CO₂ lasers

Abstract: Apparatus was assembled in which glass-fiber waveguides were drawn with the aid of CO₂ lasers. The characteristics of fibers grown from the same preform using CO₂ lasers and an oxygen-hydrogen burner were compared.
