Characteristics of nonresonant excitation of superradiance and photon echo signals

A theoretical analysis is made of the superradiance and photon echo when the exciting radiation frequency does not coincide with the central frequency of an inhomogeneously broadened line. It is found that the distortion of the profile of a nonresonantly excited superradiance signal depends strongly on the spectral width of the exciting pulses.
