Abstract:
An investigation of the mechanism of nonlinear absorption of infrared radiation in OsO4 demonstrated that at relatively high gas pressures (>1 mm Hg) the bleaching was mainly due to the thermal mechanism. A strong infrared fluorescence of molecular OsO4 in the field of high-power CO2 laser radiation was observed at λ=5.3 and 10.6μ and investigated. The role of "hot" bands in the thermal mechanism of the absorption of laser radiation by osmium tetraoxide molecules was considered.
