Abstract:
A derivation is given of the relationships between the parameters of a ring laser which ensure that the frequency shift of the opposite waves is half the mode spacing. Expressions are obtained for the optimal (from the point of view of the optical losses in the resonator) values of these parameters. An investigation is made of the influence of deviations of these parameters from the specified values and of the resonator mirror anisotropy on the polarization and frequency characteristics of a ring laser. Practical realization and experimental studies of this laser are described.
