Mechanism of the generation of ultrashort light pulses in organic dye lasers with bleachable absorbers

An investigation was made of the dependence of the transmission of saturable absorbers on the intensity of radiation in organic dye lasers. It was found that the dominant mechanism was the stimulated resonance emission and that the relaxation time of this emission behaved as the fluorescence decay time in the generation of ultrashort pulses.
