On the 75th birthday of N G Basov

Some reminiscences and recollections of Nobel Prize winner A M Prokhorov about his colleague-winner N.G.Basov in the connection with the 75th birthday of the latter are given. The author remembers 30-year anniversary of the Nobel prize awarding to both of them on Dec 10, 1964 and shortly outlines N G Basov's scientific path, his participation in quantum electronics foundation, his successes and achievements in this field, his work as a science organizer and a teacher of young scientists.
