Abstract:
A method for linearization of the modulation characteristic of an integral optical modulator based on a Mach–Zehnder interferometer is proposed. For certain parameters of the waveguides and electrodes the linearity of the modulation characteristic can be improved by selecting a specific direction of the plane of polarization of the coupled-in radiation and corresponding bias voltages. The optimal ratios of the parameters ensuring the maximum linearity of the modulation characteristic are determined.
